(several voices) Wake Up the Clubs!
(show logo sign; play theme music) alarm clock music clip, sign)
(Anchors) Several Wildcat Clubs are shining this morning. First, the Kids Care Club voted to have a quack at one last rubber duck sale to raise money for the anti-malaria mosquito nets they are sending to Africa.
(Anchors) Members of the club spent yesterday afternoon making posters to advertise this exciting event.
(photo of students)
(Anchors) You, Wildcats, can get your "Duck for a Buck." beginning today during lunch. Choose from a wide assortment including Hawaiian duck, army duck, hippie duck, and sailor duck.
(picture of ducks)
(Anchors) All profits from the sale of the ducks will go to help fight malaria that harms so many around the world.
(Anchors) Thank you, Kids Care Club, for your stellar effort to help make life better for the world's children.
(Anchors) Next . . . Another Wildcat Club in full swing is the sports clubs offered by your athletic and buff P.E. coaches.
The Sports Club meets at the crack of dawn and offers a wide variety of supervised, recreational sports like basketball and wall ball.(Good!
(props -- depending on the image)
(Anchors) The coaches invite all Wildcats to join in the fun, but ask that you BE ON TIME.
(Anchors) The coaches close the gym doors at 7:15 a.m. and will not let people in past that time.
(big learning clock with hands set at 7:15)
(Anchors) Finally, Wildcats, have you been craving some thoughtful competition in a game that requires strategy and skill?
(Anchors) The chess club invites you to join them on Monday afternoons in the reference room of the Media Center.
(Anchors) There you will learn basic elements of chess and stealthy strategies that will put the competition's lights out!
(Anchors) The Wildcats Chess Club has brought in some of the leaders of the game, so you can rest assured that you are learning from the best. The Chess Club says, "Make your move to join us on Mondays!"
(Anchors): Now on to our final segment this morning ----
(several voices) Wake Up Sports!
(show logo sign; play theme music) alarm clock music clip, sign)
(Anchors) Welcome to WildcatsSports for news that is the cat's pajamas. First out of the cage: Goldie and Jake.
(Anchor): At the recent annual Cane Creek cleanup, Mr. Ninas' bird dogs, Goldie and Jake, nosed their way to 1st place in the category "Most Trash Picked Up With Your Teeth."
(Anchor) The dogs sniffed and grabbed their way in, through, and around the creek to haul in more than six pounds of litter, outpacing their toughest competition by four pounds. (video clip of Mr. Ninas' dogs or photo mounted on poster board)
(Anchor) Mr. Ninas proudly attributes the dogs' success to their tag team tactics. (same clip or photo of dogs)
(Anchor) Thanks, Goldie and Jake, for making the creek, and ultimately West Point Lake, a more beautiful and safe place. (picture of dogs with Mr. Ninas, maybe with trophy or big rawhide bone)
(Anchor) Next up on WildcatsSports:
Two teachers who certainly appreciate the efforts of the Cane Creek Clean-up are Lindsey Aasen and Jessica Holstun. (back to sports anchor )
(Anchor) These two "aquabats" splashed their way into the world of competitive water-skiing, winning 1st place at this summer's West Point Lake Water Skiing Championship, Show Division. Although these ladies had never skied, they were drawn to the sport b/c of math: the taut ski rope lines, parallel position of the skis, geometric shapes of the stunts, and physics of wave and force. (video clip or photo of Cypress Garden-style ski show)
(Anchor) Once they donned their life vests, their daredevil maneuvers on the water quickly earned them the names, "Acrobatic" Aasen and "Hotshot" Holstun. Congratulations, Ladies! (camera on Lindsey and Jessica with trophies, waving)
(Anchors) And That's it for today's Wake up with the Wild Cats! (Everybody) Go Cats!
